Double Board Certified, Fellowship Trained Interventional Pain Management

I am a proud fifth-generation Oklahoman from the Deer Creek/Edmond area. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Letters with a minor in Science from the University of Oklahoma where I competed on the wrestling team.  I then attended OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and earned my Doctor of Osteopathy Degree. I completed my residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. After residency, I completed an ACGME approved fellowship in Interventional Pain Management in Chicago, Illinois. I took part in this fellowship alongside a large, dynamic group of Interventional Pain faculty associated with the John H. Stroger and Rush Hospital systems. I am Board Certified in both Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. I am fellowship trained in Interventional Pain Management. Since fellowship, I have enjoyed practicing medicine alongside my wife, Dr. Sarah Christensen, and learning more about her field of study, rheumatology.

In 2015, I returned to my hometown to practice Interventional Pain Management. I opened the Oklahoma Pain Treatment Centers and hired a staff of qualified medical assistants and professionals who share my vision. It is my goal to provide the highest standard of care to all of my patients and effectively communicate treatment plans with each patient’s referring physician.

My specialty is Interventional Pain Management with a focus on current, approved interventional techniques and treatment to medically manage complex pain syndromes.  I approach pain management using a conservative multimodal approach to identify the source or causation of pain and treating it at the source using minimally invasive treatments.  I work to reintroduce patients back to the healthy, functional, pain-free life they previously enjoyed.

I believe it is possible to #LivePainFree.  I thoroughly enjoy working with my patients to manage and reduce their pain weather a minor accident or a major spine surgery.  It would be my privilege to serve as your Pain Treatment Physician.  Please call for an appointment today.  Most of the time, a referral from a patient’s primary care provider or another doctor may not be necessary. Please call our office and we will help you determine if you need a referral.

MHS, PA-C Physician Assistant

Alicia is a native Ohioan and a graduate of Centerville High School. While growing up in Ohio, she swam competitively for 8 years which facilitated the development of her drive for excellence. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville in 2013. During that time, she was a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Honors and Service fraternity and named an Octa N. High Scholar. In 2014, she moved to Oklahoma and began her healthcare career in interventional pain management as a clinical assistant. In June 2016, she began the Physician Associate Program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and graduated with a Master’s degree in Health Science in October 2018. She became certified as a Physician Assistant in November 2018 after passing the Physician Assistant National Certification Exam. Upon graduating, she realized she was more heavily drawn towards interventional pain than any other specialty. In January 2019, she joined Oklahoma Pain Treatment Centers. She loves that this specialty allows her to develop personal relationships with her patients. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Oklahoma Academy of Physician Assistants. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
